Five hundred years ago, a scroll was considered a roll of parchment paper. Today, a "scroll" is the navigation feature on the margins of your computer screen.

Much has changed since the days when Ignatius of Loyola founded the Society of Jesus in the 16th century, but the hallmarks of a Jesuit education have withstood the test of time.

The Jesuit education that we offer at The University of Scranton gives graduates the foundation they need to succeed in their personal, public and professional lives. We offer an education steeped in centuries-old traditions, yet equally rich in the most advanced techniques and technology.

While we remain true to our Jesuit mission, we are, like St. Ignatius, continually open to new ideas, and ready to step into the future. It's an education that offers the "best of both worlds."

As you "scroll" through the pages of this Web site, I hope you will discover all that The University of Scranton has to offer. Should you decide to choose Scranton for your studies, we will help you discover and develop all that you have to offer in a world filled with challenges and changes.

Rev. Scott R. Pilarz, S.J.
