1331528400000Dear Members of the University Community,

This morning, Wilkes University announced the appointment of Patrick F. Leahy, Ed.D., as the sixth President in their history.

On behalf of the University community, I want to congratulate Pat on this well deserved achievement. I look forward to welcoming him as a colleague when he assumes his new responsibilities in July. I also want to thank Pat for all that he has accomplished to advance and sustain the mission and vision of the University. There is, of course, the unprecedented success of the Pride, Passion, Promise Campaign, which raised more than $125 million in support of construction projects and endowment for financial aid, scholarships and academic programs. Of equal importance are his passionate advocacy for the University’s Catholic and Jesuit mission and his tireless commitment to helping the University provide an exceptional experience for our students.

Pat has served as Executive Vice President since 2010. In his role, he has responsibility for six key areas: Development, Government Relations, Intercollegiate Athletics, Undergraduate and Graduate Admissions, Information Management, and Planning. He joined the University in 2004 as Executive Assistant to the President and was appointed Vice President for University Relations in 2005. He has taught as an Adjunct Professor of Management in the Business Leadership Honors Program.

Later in the semester, I will host a reception to give the members of the University community a chance to share with Pat their gratitude and best wishes.

Sincerely,
Kevin P. Quinn, S.J.
