Admission Requirements for Undergraduate Study
Our admission standards to the College of Graduate and Continuing Education are identical to those of the University at large. The quality of the degrees is the same; so are the high admission standards. CGCE makes earning a degree of distinction from the University of Scranton more convenient, but not easier.

That said, you must admit to yourself that your potential for achievement is probably far greater than you have accomplished so far and that unlocking that potential is the very reason for further pursuing your education.

No university wants to admit someone who does not demonstrate a probability of success in its programs. But our admission decisions are based on the review of each individual applicant. We look at you and what you think you can do. We take into account all the factors in your make up and consider you in light of whether we believe that The University of Scranton is a place where you can succeed.

If you are ready to apply yourself and can demonstrate a capacity for rigorous study, we are ready to match your effort.

Admission to undergraduate programs through the College of Graduate and Continuing Education is based on the applicant’s academic record, life experiences and motivation to continue education. The CGCE Admissions Office operates on a rolling admissions plan which processes applications on a continual basis as received. You can apply for entrance into any of the five terms offered at The University of Scranton (fall, intersession, spring, summer I and summer II). All candidates are informed of the admissions decision within three weeks after the completion of their files of supporting credentials.

To complete the application file, the candidate must have the following sent to the CGCE Office of Admissions:

  1. A completed application form accompanied by the $20 application fee.
  2. An official high school transcript (or Graduate Equivalency Diploma [GED], including scores when applicable
  3. A personal statement detailing how enrolling at the University will contribute to the individual’s goals
  4. Official transcripts, mailed directly from every college or university attended (if applicable).
Applicants to the LPN or RN to BS in nursing degree programs must also submit:
  • one letter of recommendation on official company letterhead from an employer or instructor familiar with your nursing experience and/or aptitude
  • an official nursing school transcript
  • photocopy of current nursing license

Applicants are encouraged to meet with an admissions counselor prior to registration and can make an appointment by contacting the CGCE Admissions Office at (570) 941-7600 or cgce@scranton.edu.
