Management involves getting things done through people and systems. A career in management can be challenging and rewarding.

Let's take a look at what management involves. When you manage a manufacturing company, for example, you'll discover how to manage the:

  • Buying of various raw materials your company will need
  • Production of goods and services
  • Selling and distributing of goods and services to customers
  • Budgeting of funds and distribution of information

In addition, you'll learn to:

  • Hire and train employees
  • Develop a new understanding of what your customers' and society's needs are and how your company can satisfy those needs and much more
The bigger the company is, the more these processes and activities need well-planned systems, knowledgeable and well-trained people, and others who are willing to work together as a team toward common goals. Management involves all of this.

Students may also take part in research with faculty and participate in an internship. We also offer a Management Club and a Business Club, which features presentations by business people, field trips to area businesses, and the opportunity to develop leadership skills.
  • Minor in Management of Structures and Systems - This minor focuses on the skills a successful manager needs to plan, organize, maintain, and improve an organization's structures and systems.
  • Minor in Management of People and Teams - This minor focuses on the skills a successful manager needs to meet the management challenges of people and teams in today's workplace.
