How do I apply to College of Graduate and Continuing Education?

To apply you will need to submit the College of Graduate and Continuing Education application for admission. You can request an application packet by contacting the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at (570) 941-7540 or Toll-Free 1-(888)-SCRANTON. You can also download the application as a PDF file. If you have not attended any colleges or universities since graduating from high school you will need to contact your high school to request that your official transcript be sent directly to the Office of Admissions. If you attended any institution after high school you will need to contact each institution to request that your official transcript be sent directly to the Office of Admissions (If you earned 15 or more credits at a regionally accredited college or university you do not have to submit your high school transcript). What if I earned college credit at another institution?

We are very interested in your past academic experience and aim to maximize your transferable credits- guided by the policies of The University of Scranton. Typically, courses from an accredited institution will transfer to The University of Scranton provided that you've a earned a grade of C or better and the course closely matches a University of Scranton course as required by your program of study. As soon as we receive your completed application, we will complete an official evaluation of your transcripts to determine all transferable courses. The results of this evaluation will be included in your acceptance packet.

You will need to complete at least 63 credits at the University of Scranton to earn your Bachelors degree.

What happens after I submit my application?

You can expect a decision letter within three weeks of submitting your completed application. In the acceptance packet you'll find a confirmation of acceptance card. If you decide that you would like to enroll in classes you will need to return this confirmation card along with a $50.00 deposit. We understand that life happens and that after you have sent in your deposit you may need to change your academic plans, therefore this deposit is refundable up until the time you register for your classes. In addition, we are always willing to help you in making any needed changes to your term of entry.

How will I choose my classes?

As soon as you return your confirmation of acceptance you will be contacted by a representative from the Dean's Office who will arrange an appointment for you. During this appointment you will meet with your academic advisor and carefully choose the schedule that best suits your needs.

How will I pay for my education?

The University of Scranton is committed to providing an affordable education to adult students. You may be eligible for financial aid by enrolling in as few as six credits. In order to be evaluated for financial aid you will need to submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). You will find a paper copy of the FAFSA in your application packet. In addition, you can apply online by the following link: http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/ .

When you are completing the FAFSA you will be asked to provide the name and code of the schools to which you are applying. The University of Scranton school code is 003384.

As soon as you become an accepted student, our Financial Aid Office will assess your completed FAFSA. From there they can determine your financial aid package and will shortly thereafter notify you of your awards and any anticipated expenses. Please keep in mind that you should fill out the FAFSA as soon as possible and that you do not need to be an accepted student to complete this form.
