A Message from the Dean Welcome to the College of Arts and Sciences' web pages. Our site is designed to provide you information on academic programs and also to give you an impression of what the College is “all about”. The College’s fourteen academic departments offer programs based in the rich liberal arts heritage of higher education. We offer traditional major programs as well as contemporary majors in technology-rich areas as well as interdisciplinary opportunities. You will find details on all these programs as you navigate the site. For those of you who are undecided about a major, the College offers a number of first-year programs to help you make decisions. All of our students should feel secure that the College’s advising system will assist them as their interests become better defined during the first year of studies. All of our programs are supported by outstanding faculty and staff whose mission is to interact with students on a day-to-day basis, in and outside of the formal classroom. This is the basis of education in the Ignation tradition and it is the core of all University of Scranton programs. On behalf of the 150 faculty and 2,000 students that make up the College’s academic community, I thank you for visiting us today. I also invite you to visit us in-person so that you can see first-hand how our students and faculty interact in our environment, and to get a better impression of the quality of our physical facilities. The University of Scranton, and the College of Arts and Sciences, is a wonderful place to take the next steps in your life. You will learn much more than a discipline at Scranton, you will learn about yourself, about others, and about the world.
