cranton’s pre-professional programs have a long tradition of preparing students for admission to the top professional schools in the nation. Our strong undergraduate curriculum rooted in liberal education, coupled with advising programs and personal counseling will help you prepare for advanced study in law, engineering, medicine and health-related fields.

PRE-LAW
From 2003-2006, over 200 Scranton graduates have received acceptance into law schools from over 65 schools, including some of the nation's most prestigious. These include the University of California at Berkeley, Boston College, Cornell Universitiy, Duke University, Fordham University, Georgetown University, New York University, the University of Notre Dame and the University of Pennsylvania.

PRE-ENGINEERING
Our two-year pre-engineering program introduces its students to the highly technical training they will need for all phases of the engineering profession, allowing them to transfer to another school to complete their degree work. Those who complete two years of pre-engineering at Scranton are eligible to enter the three-year Cooperative Engineering Program at The University of Detroit Mercy, which offers degrees in chemical, civil, electrical, environmental, and mechanical engineering. This program offers alternate semesters of formal instruction and work experience in industry.

PRE-MEDICAL
Of the 319 senior applicants to medical schools over the last eight years, an average of 81% were accepted. In addition to senior applicants, 102 alumni, graduate students and post-baccalaureate students applied to health-professions schools between 2000 and 2007; 79 of these individuals (77%) gained acceptance to health professions doctoral programs. Well over half of the successful applicants in the past eight years have received more than one acceptance. Several students received scholarship support either through M.D./Ph.D. programs, the National Health Service Corps or armed service scholarships.
