Announcing: the Biological Imaging/Photo Contest
The Biology Department is proud to sponsor the first annual Biological Photo/Imaging Contest.
The contest is open to any undergraduate student (any major, not just life sciences majors) at the University of Scranton who is not a professional photographer or photojournalist. We are soliciting photos, images, or illustrations from any of the following:
- A photograph taken in the Loyola Science Center, or of a subject or scene on campus that is of a biological nature (flowers, trees, wildlife, etc.)
- Photos taken within the auspices of a life science course (laboratory, field course, or travel course), or research conducted within the life sciences at the U of Scranton. These can include: laboratory specimens, data, photomicrographs, people working in the laboratory, field sites
- Illustrations or line drawings of a subject/specimen, or images that come from data acquisition (MicroCT scans, confocal microscopes, electron microscope, X-Ray Diffraction, etc.) within the auspices of a life sciences course or research conducted within the life sciences at the U of Scranton.
Images should have been generated any time within the student’s tenure at the U of Scranton (images generated in previous years are acceptable).
The winner of this contest will receive $100. In addition, consolation prizes of up to $40 will be awarded. The images will be judged by a panel of faculty, staff, and students/alumni. The winning images will be displayed in the Loyola Science Center this fall.
All entries must be submitted digitally or in person by Friday, September 7, 2012 at 5:00 pm.
