Celebrating the Scranton Iron Furnaces: A Concert with Cabinet
October 5, 2012

When it comes to the music of Cabinet, the essential bywords are soul, simplicity, and serious musicianship. Pappy Biondo [banjo, vocals], J.P. Biondo [mandolin, vocals], Mickey Coviello [acoustic guitar, vocals], Dylan Skursky [electric bass, double bass], Todd Kopec [fiddle, vocals], and Jami Novak [drums, percussion], weave bluegrass, country, and folk influences to powerful effect. Tight dynamics punctuate gorgeous, soaring harmonies as down-to-earth rhythm and lyrics give way to dreamy jams that are the musical equivalent of the back road scenic route. In conjunction with the exhibition The Lackawanna Iron Furnaces of Scranton, Pennsylvania: History, Art, Heritage, the Hope Horn Gallery celebrates the twenty-first anniversary of the Scranton Iron Furnaces’ nomination to the National Register of Historic Places with a Concert by Cabinet and a Nighttime Illumination of the Scranton Iron Furnaces on Cedar Avenue near Roaring Brook.
