EXCELLENCE IN INTEGRATING SUSTAINABILITY INTO THE CURRICULUM

Dr. Spalletta in the Department of Physics and Electrical Engineering. in collaboration with Dr. Argyrios Varionides, successfully devised ways to increase solar cell efficiencies.  They have an active publication record in this field of study and also received a state grant to purchase and implement a solar energy demonstration unit on campus (located on the north side of the Mulberry and Madison Parking Area).  The system generates electricity during the typically sunny Scranton days which is sold back to PPL in exchange for the night lighting of the lot.
