The University of Scranton - Development: Corporations & Foundations

Development Department

Office of Corporate and
Foundation Relations

Cultivating and sustaining relationships with corporations and foundations are critical components of fundraising at The University of Scranton. The Office of Corporate and Foundation Relations is responsible for inviting support from corporate and foundation donors to achieve the strategic goals of the University while developing mutually beneficial alliances with corporate and foundation partners.

Corporate Relations:

Acting as a broker of University resources, the Office of Corporate and Foundation Relations works to match University faculty and staff expertise with known corporate interests. These alliances build upon complementary strengths and needs in recruitment/hiring, internships, financial aid for students, research collaborations, and other areas of mutual interest.

There are many points of contact between corporations and The University of Scranton. Various departments within a corporation, such as human resources, research and development, or marketing, may be interested in developing a mutually beneficial relationship with the University’s schools and colleges, or the offices of career services, sponsored programs, and continuing education.

The Office of Corporate and Foundation Relations opens portals to the University by providing corporations with access to world class faculty, students, cutting-edge technologies, the finest state-of-the-art facilities, and other resources. There are many ways for a corporation to support The University of Scranton’s mission to provide students with the best education possible, such as:

  • Scholarships
  • Fellowships
  • Faculty chairs
  • Capital improvements and facilities
  • Program and research grants
  • Equipment
  • In-kind gifts
  • Employee matching gift programs
  • Named gift opportunities

Foundation Relations:

The Office of Corporate and Foundation Relations is responsible for establishing and fostering relationships between the University and foundations in ways that will yield the maximum benefit to the interests of both. We do this by assuring positive communication with foundation staff, submitting well thought-out grant proposals, and executing careful stewardship of grants.

Foundations are a driving force behind much of the research, programs and capital improvements that take place on campuses today, and this is especially true at The University of Scranton. The Office of Corporate and Foundation Relations works closely with University administration, faculty and staff to identify priority projects, and provides assistance in identifying foundation funding opportunities, assisting with project and proposal development, and facilitating the submission of grant proposals. We seek to operate as a campus clearinghouse so that all University contacts with foundations are strategic and coordinated.
