MIKE STRONG AND DEANNA KLINGMAN

Coach Mike Strong's longevity and great players have placed him among the top 10 winningest women's coaches in all divisions and is ranked number two all-time in Division III with an impressive .813 winning percentage. He also is one of only three Division III coaches to post 600 wins.

Strong may be the only collegiate coach to collect national titles in both men's and women's basketball. He served as assistant coach during the Royals' 1976 NCAA title and piloted the Lady Royals to a national title in 1985. In addition, Strong has accumulated such prestigious awards as the Kodak National Coach of the Year in 1985, and has been named the Middle Atlantic Conference's Northeast League Coach of the Year numerous times. He is a member of the U of S, and the Wayne County Wall of Fame.

In addition to the 1980 AIAW Final Four, Strong's teams have participated in 21 NCAA national tournaments, reaching the Final Four 8 times. His NCAA tournament record is an impressive 47-24 (66%)

One of the finest players to ever don a Lady Royal uniform, Deanna Klingman, known then as Deanna Kyle, averaged 18.1 points, 5.7 rebounds and 8.1 assists per game in leading the Lady Royals to a 31-1 overall record and its first ever Division III title in women's basketball in 1985. Deanna recently completed her 7th year as an assistant at her Alma Mater.

Klingman was named the National Player of the Year in Division III and was the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the Middle Atlantic Conference Northern Division. She still holds the Lady Royals' single-season record for highest assist average and the 543 points she scored during the 1984-1985 season is seventh best in Scranton history.

Klingman had previously served as coordinator of women's athletics and Head Women's Basketball Coach and Volleyball Coach at Keystone College in LaPlume, Pennsylvania, for five years. She was also an assistant on the high school level for six years at Abington Heights High School and has coached on the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) level. She is one of the most sought after clinicians in Northest Pennsylvania.
