Internet2 Support for University Faculty & Students

About Internet2

In December 2005, The University of Scranton became a participant in Internet2, a collaborative effort by over 200 U.S. universities to develop advanced Internet technology and collaborations that are vital to the research and education missions of higher education. Internet2 provides the communication pathway for faculty and researchers to work together on new technologies, applications, and the development of best practices in education. Internet2 is exclusively for colleges and universities, primary and secondary schools, health care organizations, libraries and museums. Members and participants work together in application areas ranging from health sciences to fine arts. Video conferencing (including international connections) over Internet2 is an extremely popular use of this high-performance network.

Support for Internet2 on campus is a collaborative effort among the Information Resources division and the Center for Teaching and Learning Excellence (CTLE). For more information about accessing and using Internet2 on campus, please refer to the Internet2 Frequently Asked Questions. The FAQs contain links to the national Internet2 web site, where you can find more information about the network and its uses.
