TelevisionTelevision Production

The television facilities at the University of Scranton, include a modern production studio and control room, digital editing facilities, and location production equipment. The facilities are used for classes, student production groups and video productions for the entire campus. We havemoved into the digital age with digital cameras and non-linear editing.

The Royal Cable Television Network is a campus cable system with over fifty channels. These include channels for student productions and a campus movie channel with movies chosen by the students.

Royal Network News is a student group that produces a weekly news program that can be viewed on the campus cable system. The students shoot, edit, write, direct and produce this program. Students learn how to use cameras and editing equipment to produce news stories. To get on-air experience students act as reporters and anchors. The program is then put together in the television studio. RNN gives students hands-on experience in the production of a newscast. This same group has also produced basketball games and comedy shows.
