The University of Scranton Garners Four Advertising Awards

Mar 4, 2011

The University of Scranton received four Educational Advertising Awards in a national competition sponsored by the Higher Education Marketing Report.

The Educational Advertising Awards, now in its 26th year, is the largest educational advertising awards competition in the country. This year, more than 2,500 entries were received from more than 1,000 colleges, universities and secondary schools from all 50 states and several foreign countries.

The University received three silver awards in the categories of website (Admissions), video viewbook (“Location” video), and newsletter (Spring 2010 issue of Challenges in Theory & Practice). Scranton’s spring 2010 image campaign and print ads earned a bronze award in the newspaper advertisement/series category.

The Admissions website (www.scranton.edu/admissions) and its subpages highlight the University’s location, Jesuit tradition, honors program and student life. The video viewbook and location video are also located on the Admissions website. Challenges in Theory & Practice highlight faculty and student accomplishments, research, initiatives, conferences and services of the Panuska College of Professional Studies.

The spring 2010 image advertising campaign ran in three consecutive issues of The Chronicle of Higher Education, starting with the Feb. 26, 2010, issue. The advertisements focused on the University’s national recognition and academics, sustainability, and campus improvements, with one advertisement devoted entirely to the new unified science center.

Judges for the Educational Advertising Awards consisted of national panel of higher education marketers, advertising creative directors, marketing and advertising professionals and the editorial board of Higher Education Marketing Report.
