University of Scranton and Marywood University Collaborative Performance Set

Apr 23, 2015

The University of Scranton Players will present “Proprioception,” a series of new, short plays written by University of Scranton students and created in collaboration with students from Marywood’s School of Architecture. This unique collaboration will run for three nights only on Thursday, April 30, Friday, May 1, and Saturday, May 2. Performances begin at 8 p.m. in the gymnasium of the Former Scranton State School for the Deaf on the corner of Adams Avenue and Evelyn Court. The event is free and open to the public.

Every schoolchild knows about the 5 senses; however, we are able to sense many different things from heat to pain. “Proprioception” refers to the sense of feeling your body parts in space. It’s one of a number of senses that we don’t hear about. The senses (both those we know and those we don’t) and location of this performance provide the inspiration for these plays.

Each of the plays are written, performed, and directed by University of Scranton students who have been working with students of Architecture from Marywood. This is an opportunity for young writers and architects to showcase their works in front of an audience and for two area universities to demonstrate the collaboration of their students and institutions.

The students involved in the creation of these plays are: Amy Black, Cillian Byrne, Olivia Gillespie, Mia Hodorovich, Bri Kelley, Mike Kranick, Dan Mauro, Lindsey Pelucacci, James Pennington, Regina Petrunich, Elizabeth Polishnan, Summer Vaughan, and Dillon Vita from the University of Scranton. Architecture students from Marywood University include Elizabeth Andrzejewski, Katie Debusk, Marco Di Lonardo, Stacy Griffing, Jennifer Hurst, Emily Maldary, Gianni Monteleone, Ryan Mulqueen, Jamie Snitzer, Michael Sulima, Victoria Traino, Martha Velazquez, Kelly Weber, Cari Williams, Caitlyn Wroblewsky and Cassandra Zarelli
