PBC Eleventh Annual Award Dinner, New York City

ScrantoberFest: New York City 
Date: Oct. 5, 2012 
Time: 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. 
We’re kicking-off ScrantoberFest in the Big Apple! It’s $10 per person, which covers your first drink and unlimited appetizers. Cash bar will be available for additional drinks. 

Celebrate The University of Scranton's Theatre History 
Date: Oct. 6, 2012 
Time: 3 p.m. 
Join us as we celebrate The University of Scranton's rich Theatre history. The event will features cocktails, dinner and tickets to "Prelude to a Kiss" by Craig Lucas. 

The Schemel Forum: How Cities Make the World Better 
Date: Oct. 11, 2012 
Time: Noon to 1:30 p.m. 

Covering three centuries and five continents, Professor Gutfreund will offer a new perspective on our love-hate relationship with cities by presenting a broad consideration of their role in the modern world. He will also discuss the problems and possibilities posed by the rapid growth of mega-cities that is currently under way worldwide. More information and register.

ScrantoberFest: Washington, D.C. 
Date: Oct. 12, 2012 
Time: 6 to 8 p.m.

The Schemel Forum: The American Impulse to Intervene 
Date: Oct. 22, 2012 
Time: Noon to 1:30 p.m. 
From the U.S. Navy attack on Tripoli in 1804 to the NATO bombing of Tripoli in 2011, the United States has carried out dozens of foreign interventions. No other country has intervened so often in places so far from its own shores. The lecture will explore the motives behind these operations and the effects that they have had. More information and register. 

ScrantoberFest: Scranton Halloween Bash 
Date: Oct. 26, 2012
Time: 8 to 10 p.m. 
We’re going out with a BASH—Come home to Scranton and join us for the 2012 Alumni Halloween Bash! It’s $15 per person, which includes two hours of premium open bar and a variety of horror d’oeuvres. Best costume wins a prize. 

The Schemel Forum: Leo Castelli: The First Global Gallerist 
Date: Nov. 2, 2012 
Time: Noon to 1:30 p.m. 
When Leo Castelli, a Jewish refugee from Europe, opened his art gallery in New York in 1957, he radically transformed the art world, socially, politically, aesthetically – and globally. What were his strategies, his goals, his models? Most interestingly, what was his vision? More information and register.

The Schemel Forum: Václav Havel: Profile of a Hero 
Date: Nov. 8, 2012 
Time: Noon to 1:30 p.m. 
The lecture will focus on Havel’s impact as artist and intellectual and ultimately as president of the Czech Republic in the democratization of Eastern and Central Europe. More information and register. 

New Jersey Brunch with Santa
