University Community Participates in a Race for the Cure

Cure

Almost 200 people from The University of Scranton participated in this year’s Race for the Cure Sept. 8. For the fourth consecutive year, The University of Scranton’s team won the "Largest School Team" award, raising more than $6,000 this year. The University's team consisted of faculty, staff, students, family and friends, including groups from ROTC, the women's basketball team and Lavis Hall. The Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure raises significant funds and awareness for the fight against breast cancer, celebrates breast cancer survivorship, and honors those who have lost their battle with the disease. One of our staff members, Donna Rupp, was The Race for the Cure’s honorary survivor for the race. Race for the Cure committee members included Lynn Gavin from accounts payable, Betsy Moylan from the library, and Eileen Notarianni from human resources. Special thanks to Aramark for providing refreshments, the Office of Human Resources for providing team T-shirts, and to all who contributed in making this year a success.
