The Center for Student Engagement at The
University of Scranton is excited to announce that applications for Scranton
Emerging Leaders (SEL) I are now live at www.scranton.edu/SEL. SEL I is celebrating its 10th anniversary
this year, and this program includes more than 800 alumni who have been regarded as
some of the most respected student leaders on campus.
SEL 1 is an eight-week program for students of
any year who are enthusiastic to develop and enhance their leadership skills. Each
class meets once a week for 1.5 hours. Students
of SEL 1 program have an exclusive opportunity to learn about their potential
as an emerging leader and gain the tools necessary to become an exceptional
leader as well. Students often create new friendships with their classmates and
find it easier to get involved in leadership positions on campus. These eight
weekly sessions include topics such as The Social Change Model of Leadership,
Leadership Style and Assessment, Communication Skills, Interpersonal Skills,
Assertiveness, and Motivating Self and Others.
Classes begin the week of Feb. 18 and end the week of April 22. There are no fees or costs to participate in the program.
