The Philosophy Department is conducting a search to fill the McDevitt Chair in Philosophy. The second of our candidates, Christopher Tollefson, Ph.D., will be speaking on Thursday, March 21, at 8 p.m. in the Loyola Science Center, room 133, on “How not to Lie: The Casuistry of Non-disclosure.” Professor Tollefson currently teaches at University of South Carolina-Columbia and specializes in natural law ethics, practical ethics, and bioethics. He was a Visiting Fellow of James Madison Program in American Ideals and Institutions at Princeton University in 2011-2012. He has published widely including "Biomedical Research and Beyond: Expanding the Ethics of Inquiry" (Routledge) and "Embryo: A Defense of Human Life" (Doubleday).
