Recent graduates of The University of Scranton returned to their academic roots to give presentations about their current research ventures to undergraduate students and faculty. The event was arranged by the University’s Chemistry Club and Chemistry Department faculty members.

Christopher Yarosh ’10, of Scranton, graduated with a degree in biochemistry and now attends the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia. His work concerns T-cells and immune disorders. Scott Melideo ’10, of Dix Hills, Wyo., graduated with a degree in biochemistry in the pre-medical program and now attends the Drexel University College of Medicine, Philadelphia. His work is related to many diseases including Alzheimer’s disease and hypertension. Julia Eichhorn ’10, of Reading, graduated with a degree in chemistry and now attends the University of Delaware, Newark, Del. Her work entails wastewater treatment and the environment. Maria Gubbiotti ’11, of Falls, graduated with a degree in biochemistry, cell and molecular biology and now attends Jefferson Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University, Philadelphia. Her work is comprised of tumor cell migration and cancers.
This event also marked the first time that many of these alumni had seen the completed Loyola Science Center. Lightheartedly jealous that they did not have the opportunity to take advantage of the new facility, they cite their undergraduate experiences at the University as beneficial to their current positions.
