Scranton Welcomes You! Enjoy refreshments and meet members of our campus community at this reception in honor of Scranton parents. Scranton’s Mayor, Christopher A. Doherty, will help welcome you to the City of Scranton. (Tickets required. $7.00 per person)

An unwitting accomplice to a drug smuggling operation, Suzy Hendrix must use all her cunning to stay alive.  Blinded by a recent accident and sequestered in her basement apartment, alone and vulnerable, she is forced to rely on the element of darkness and her four remaining senses to outwit the conmen who have come to retrieve their illicit goods. 
This suspenseful 1966 thriller, by the playwright who brought you Dial M for Murder, was recently produced at the 2010 Edinburgh Fringe and will have you on the edge of your seat.

Stop by the Dionne Green and meet student representatives from over 20 student clubs and organizations on campus. Shop at our Family Weekend Farmer's Market, and enjoy music and arts and crafts at this Fall Festival. 


P ages & Places Book Festival
Come downtown to Courthouse Square and see all that Scranton's annual book festival has to offer!  The festival will feature a Civil War Era street with lots of family-oriented activities. Avid book lovers can also enjoy exciting panel discussions with prominent authors that will take place throughout downtown, highlighting Scranton's historic architecture. New studies indicate the chocolate improves brain function meet with Dr. Joseph Vinson, Professor of Chemistry who will explain chocolate's antioxident properties and compare them with other foods. Also, how chocolate's fat and antioxidents are related to heart disease will be discussed in terms of epidemilogical, animal and human supplementation, and mechanistic studies.

We introduced you to the City of Scranton with Scranton 101 at Freshman Orientation. Now, Director of Community Relations, Julie Schumacher Cohen will moderate a panel of Scranton "experts" who will tell you everything you need to know about the Electric City. You'll leave this session having learned how the University and community partner with each other, as well as practical information on where to shop, eat and discounts available on Family Weekend. Cann, Professor of Chemistry and have fun with science.  You will see, hear, feel, and perhaps even taste some fascinating science demonstrations.  From bubbles to entropy, density to solar energy, green chemistry to slime, and even a diving catsup packet will captivate you. Many of these demonstrations you can do at home, mesmerizing your friends and family, and becoming your own Dr. Squared!

Civil War Medicine
This year marks the 150th Anniversary of the Civil War. Join Assistant Professor of History, Dr. Kathryn Meier as she explains how military surgeons, soldiers, and civilians experimented with an extraordinarily creative arsenal of remedies for what ailed them.

lFormed and founded in 1974 by Gerard Schwarz, The New York Trumpet Ensemble has for decades been one of America's foremost brass ensembles. The Ensemble is directed by Mark Gould, who is renowned throughout the world as a performer, teacher, and conductor.

Come to this session hosted by Vice President of University Ministries, Rev. Rick Malloy, S.J., Ph.D,. Using his own brand of wit, Father Rick will entertain his audience while sharing with them how the University of Scranton gets students thinking about their own spirituality and impact on the world. A light breakfast will be provided for participants.

Intramural Flag Football
Students, staff and faculty are encouraged to participate in intramural programs.  Watch as they participate in a day long flag football football scrimmage. Several intramural teams will play, only one can emerge victorious.  To learn more about Scranton's intramural programs click here.
