The University of Scranton Slates Alumni Reunion Events
The University of Scranton will hold its annual Alumni Reunion Weekend, Friday, June 7, through Sunday, June 9. Honored classes are those ending in "2" and "7" from the class of 1952 through the class of 1997, and all "golden graduates" from the classes of the years before 1952. Weekend activities are open to all Scranton alumni.
Reunion Weekend begins at noon on Friday with registration at the McDade Center for Literary and Performing Arts from 5 to 10 p.m.
Saturday's events begin at 10 a.m. with a morning mass at St. Ignatius Chapel, St. Thomas Hall, followed by guided campus tours leaving from the McDade Center for Literary and Performing Arts at 10:30 a.m.
The Frank J. O'Hara Awards, recognizing alumni and others who have achieved distinction in their professions or personal endeavors, will be presented at an awards ceremony in Brennan Hall beginning at 11:00 a.m.
A family picnic will be held on the Alumni Memorial Green from Noon until 3 p.m. Alumni with college-bound students are invited to attend an Admissions Workshop in the Admissions Visitors' Center from 3 to 4 p.m. A Eucharist of Remembrance will be held in Madonna della Strada Chapel at 5:15 p.m. to remember deceased members of the milestone years.
Beginning at 6:30 p.m., members of the reunion years will converge on the commons for a Grand Reunion. Class dinners will be held in the Byron Complex beginning at 8 p.m. and will be followed by a dance and continental coffees and desserts.
Sunday's schedule features a liturgy in the Madonna della Strada Chapel at 11 a.m. followed by a farewell brunch in the Gunster Memorial Student Center from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Athletics facilities, the library and bookstore will be available all weekend to accommodate reunion guests.
