Sixteen Faculty Members Receive Promotions, Tenure at The University of Scranton
The University of Scranton President Joseph M. McShane, S.J., has announced 16 faculty promotions, including tenure decisions, which go into effect at the beginning of the 2002-2003 academic year.
The following faculty will be promoted to professor effective the fall of 2002: Jones DeRitter, Ph.D., Clarks Summit, English; Marian Farrell, Ph.D., Clarks Summit, nursing; Daniel Mahoney, Ph.D., Clarks Summit, accounting; and Oliver Morgan, Ph.D., Clarks Summit, counseling and human services.
The following will be promoted to associate professor and granted tenure beginning the fall of 2002: Maria Poggi Johnson, Ph.D., Scranton, theology/religious studies; Loreen Wolfer, Ph.D., Archbald, sociology, criminal justice; and Marc Shapiro, Ph.D., West Orange, N. J., theology/religious studies.
The following will be promoted to associate professor beginning in the fall of 2002: Lori Bruch, Ed.D., Mountain Top, counseling and human services; Barbara Cozza, Ph.D., Gouldsboro, education; Timothy Hobbs, Ph.D., Kingston, education; and Cynthia Cann, Ph.D., Lake Ariel, management/marketing.
Tenure for the following faculty members will become effective in the fall of 2002: Mary Jane Kalafut DiMattio, Ph.D., Lake Ariel, nursing; Michael Knies, Dunmore, library; and Renee Hakim, Ph.D., Dallas, physical therapy.
The following will be promoted to assistant professor beginning in the fall of 2002: Peter Leininger, Clarks Summit, physical therapy; and Linda Neyer, Scranton, library.
The University currently employs 255 full-time faculty members, 81 percent of whom hold doctorate or terminal degrees.
