08/21 - The University of Scranton Art Gallery Opens "A Calendar of Songs: Recent Works by Evelyn Busch Klie"

Evelyn Busch Klie, a Binghamton-based painter who finds her inspiration from rural landscapes, will display a wide range of her work at The University of Scranton's Art Gallery. Large-scale watercolors to miniature series will be included in "A Calendar of Songs: Recent Works by Evelyn Busch Klie," on display from Sunday, September 8 to Friday, October 11.

The works on display were submitted for inclusion in "Northeast PA Regional Art 2000: Artists as Visionaries."

Opening events on Sunday, September 8, include a lecture, "Landscapes and Locations," by Klie. The lecture will take place from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. in The University of Scranton's Executive Center, 5th floor, Brennan Hall. A reception will follow from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the art gallery.

The opening events are free and open to the public.

In addition to the lecture, The University Art Gallery will offer a Watercolor Workshop beginning September 13 and ending October 11. The workshops will be held every Friday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. The workshop will focus on Klie's detailed depictions of nature. Students will work from life with pencil and watercolor to produce accurate and expressive studies of plants and foliage.

The University of Scranton's Art Gallery, located on the fourth floor of Hyland Hall, corner of Jefferson Avenue and Linden Street, is open from noon to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, with evening hours 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday. All exhibits and lectures are free of charge, and open to the public.
