09/16 - University of Scranton Announces New Administrative Appointments

Darla Germeroth, Ph.D., has been named associate dean of the College of Arts and Sciences and Rhonda Waskiewicz, Ed.D., has been named associate dean of the Panuska College of Professional Studies at The University of Scranton.

Dr. Germeroth joined The University of Scranton in 1989 and has most recently been a professor in the Department of Communication. She is director of the College of Arts and Sciences Academic Advising Center and coordinator of the College's Freshman Seminar. She is a member of the University's Freshman Year Task Force, the Weinberg Library Leaves of Class Advisory Board and the Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities Deans Conference.

Her service to the university and the Department of Communication also includes her work as basic public speaking course director, chairperson of the Department of Communication, and director of the new program in Media and Information Technology.

Dr. Germeroth's memberships have included the Faculty Senate, Library Advisory Committee, Conference Committee on Curriculum, Middle States' Self Study Group on Outcomes and Institutional Effectiveness, Academic Honesty Board, Honors Council and others. She has taught a wide variety of courses in her discipline, has presented more than 30 conference papers and is the author of 16 professional papers and proceedings.

Dr. Germeroth, Scranton, is also very active in the regional community, where she has played significant roles in productions from a number of community and regional theaters. She has also played a role in designing posters and playbills for these groups. She has frequently served as speech coach for individuals from regional businesses and other organizations.

She earned a bachelor's and master's degree from Kansas State University, and a doctorate from the University of Denver.

Rhonda Waskiewicz, Ed.D., associate dean of the Panuska College of Professional Studies

In 1996, Dr. Waskiewicz, White Haven, joined The University of Scranton's Department of Occupational Therapy as a professional staff member, and helped develop the clinical education component of the department's curriculum. She became a faculty member in 1998

Mostly recently, she served as department chair. She received a bachelor of science in degree in occupational therapy from Tufts University, Boston School of Occupational Therapy, a master of science degree in health administration from King's College, and a doctorate of education in education administration from the Educational Leadership and Policy Studies at Temple University.

Dr. Waskiewicz served as a staff therapist at the Berkshire Rehabilitation Center and Walter E. Fernald School, as well as director of occupational therapy services at Manor Health Care, Leader Nursing and Rehabilitation Services, Inc., and director of rehabilitation services at Carpenter Care Center. She was also a per diem staff therapist at Allied Services, Inc.

She is the author of eight scholarly publications, and has presented 14 conference papers.

Dr. Waskiewicz is a member of the American Occupational Therapy Association and the Pennsylvania Occupational Therapy Association.
