University of Scranton to Host Seminars on Business in European Union
The Kania School of Management at The University of Scranton will present a series of seminars on conducting business in the European Union Oct. 2-4, 2002. The seminars are scheduled for 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day in room 228 of Brennan Hall, Madison Avenue. The program is free and open to the public.
The seminars will be conducted by Alberto Ibanez, director of international affairs at Foro Europeo, one of Spain's foremost business schools, and two of his colleagues, Alvaro Viladrich, CEO of Foro Europeo, and Jose Quer, director of continuing education at Foro Europeo.
The seminar will address management, finances, human resources and eBusiness. Using the case method approach and allowing for wide ranging discussion, each seminar leader will introduce major issues, institutions, opportunities, problems and managerial processes unique to European business.
"Many Americans tend to see the European Union and Europe as a unity, but in fact, negotiating with the French business sector is different than doing business with the Spanish, and different still than negotiating with Italians," said Mr. Ibanez. "One cannot successfully conduct business in the European Union without knowing the culture of the country or countries in which a business wants to compete."
The program is part of The University of Scranton's ongoing efforts to ensure that its students have state of the art knowledge about the global marketplace.
