U.S. Army ROTC

ROTC: Nursing

ROTC Nursing Program

(Nursing Scholarship Opportunities)

Army Nursing is a winning combination. Nursing is a very important skill to the Army. The leadership training provided by the Army is very valuable to Nursing Students. At the University of Scranton, there is a very close partnership between the local nursing departments and the Military Science Department. The Military Science Department understands the educational demands of Nurse Training and is very flexible in tailoring schedules for nursing students.

ROTC nursing students may attend the Nurse Summer Training Program (NSTP) after their junior year. NSTP is a three week internship at a military hospital . The nursing cadets are allowed to practice nursing and leadership skills to a much greater degree than they are able to in civilian hospitals. The experience ties together their medical and leadership abilities in a real world environment. NSTP is conducted in many stateside locations, as well as in Hawaii and Germany.

The program introduces you to the Army Medical Department (AMEDD) and to the roles and responsibilities of an Army Nurse Corps Officer. Under the supervision of an experienced Army Nurse Corps Officer, you will obtain hands-on experience. Your on-on-one clinical experience will allow you to hone your clinical skills, develop your problem-solving techniques and become comfortable with developing your professional skills as a member of the U.S. Army Healthcare Team.

If you're considering an undergraduate or graduate Nursing degree, joining Army ROTC can enhance your leadership skills and critical thinking abilities while providing financial support to help make your professional goals a reality.

Being a Nurse in the Army provides you with opportunities not found in the civilian world. As an Army Nurse and Officer, you will have the respect of your peers and coworkers, as well as opportunities to train and serve in a variety of specialties.

Army ROTC can offer you unique nursing opportunities while receiving financial assistance for college. You will get valuable leadership experience and management training that can benefit you in either a military or private-sector nursing career.

There are many two-, three- or four-year Army ROTC Nurse scholarships available for those pursuing a bachelor's degree in nursing.
