SUCHOSKI NAMED 3RD-TEAM ALL-AMERICAN BY NSCAA; EARNS
ALL-AMERICA HONORS FOR THE SECOND TIME IN HER CAREER

For the second time in three seasons, Sara Suchoski (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./Coughlin), a junior forward on The University of Scranton women’s soccer team, has been named all-American by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA).

Suchoski earned third-team honors after leading the Royals of veteran head coach Joe Bochicchio to the most successful season in the program’s storied 21-year history. She led the Freedom Conference and Scranton in scoring for the third consecutive season with 20 goals and 14 assists for 54 total points as the Royals posted a school-record with 22 wins. Scranton, which was ranked as high as second in the NSCAA national poll, advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2003 NCAA Division III championships, where the Royals lost a hard-fought 1-0 decision in overtime to eventual champion Oneonta State University in Oneonta, New York, on Saturday, November 22.

Suchoski, a 2001 first-team all-America selection, joins Holly Spiech (1988-1990) as the only multi-recipients in Scranton history. She enters the upcoming 2004 season needing only six goals to break Lori Snyder’s (1983-1986) Scranton all-time record of 66 and is only 11 total points shy of eclipsing Snyder’s all-time scoring mark of 165 total points. In addition, she is five assists away from breaking Cathy Graham’s (1983-1986) all-time record of 37. Suchoski is also a two-time Verizon District II all-Academic second-team selection (2002, 2003), which honors those student-athletes who are at least a sophomore, are a key starter or reserve and have a cumulative grade point average of 3.2-or-higher.
