Men’s Basketball: TURNOVERS CONTINUE TO HAUNT ROYALS IN 102-65 LOSS AT ELIZABETHTOWN; SCRANTON DROPS TO 1-6 ON THE SEASON

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa.—Turnovers and the inability to control the boards continue to haunt the University of Scranton men’s basketball team.

In a 102-65 loss to Elizabethtown College Wednesday evening, the Royals suffered their fifth straight loss and fell to 1-6 on the season by committing 28 turnovers and by being out-rebounded by a 42-32 margin.

The hot-shooting Blue Jays, who connected on 54.3 percent of their field goal attempts in the second half to break away from a 46-32 halftime lead, improved to 4-4 on the season behind a 23-point effort by Jon Connor and 14 points by Dan Keane. Sophomore guard Matt Snyder (Scranton, Pa./Scranton Prep) led the Royals with 13 points—all in the first half—and freshman center Mike Kreuter (Penllyn, Pa./Shipley) added 11 points.

Andrew Flynn and Greg Adams chipped in 11 points apiece for Elizabethtown, which finished the game with 20 steals and whose largest lead was 43 points late in the second half.

The Royals will break for the holidays before returning to the John J. Long, S.J., Center on Saturday and Sunday, January 3-4, to host Clark University, Gettysburg College and Susquehanna University in the Radisson Invitational.
