Definitely DO NOT slack off in your senior year.

If you still have some time left in high school, take the most rigorous courses you can find. A "B" in a challenging course is more impressive than an "A" in an easy one. And stick with your difficult classes — persistence and determination are highly regarded traits.

Take the SATs more than once to make sure your scores
are the best they can be.

Be yourself when you write your college essay. Let the
admissions people get to know you. Don’t try to
make yourself sound smarter or different than you
really are.

Ask someone to proof your essay for logic, grammar
and spelling.

Make sure you have filled out the application forms
completely, correctly and promptly.

Collect personal recommendations from people who have
gotten to know you both in and out of class.
