Saturday, April 18: Arbor Day
10 a.m. to 3 p.m. E-Cycling - The University of Scranton will collect electronics for recycling. The event is being organized by SIFE, Physical Plant, Apex Waste Services/Waste Management and Efollet Bookstore. Linden Street at Monroe Avenue. A fee of $5 is requested to help cover the cost to recycle the electronics. Call 941-7520 for more information.


Sunday, April 19
Time TBA. Street Sweep - The Student Government of The University of Scranton will organize student volunteers in a clean-up project. Call 941-7462 for more information.


Monday, April 20:

5 p.m. to 7 p.m. - Sustainable Downtown Scranton Tour. Sustainable Scranton Tour of "green" businesses with many offering sales and incentives. Tuesday, April 21:
10 a.m. to 1 p.m. - Earth Day Fair on the Dionne Campus Green. - The Fair will have interactive games and information related to the environment, sustainable practices and will highlight faculty and student projects related to environmental issues. Local green businesses and organizations will also participate. There will also be a booth highlighting the University's policies, practices, and projects related to sustainability. 7 p.m. - Lecture by Paul Rogat Loeb, author of Soul of A Citizen, editor of The Impossible Will Take A Little While and affiliated scholar at Seattle's Center for Ethical Leadership, will discuss how individual citizens can organize at the grassroots level to address local, national and global sustainability issues. Nature Tours highlight the beautiful scenic areas of Scranton seen through the lens of experienced and knowledgeable guides. Short walks are suitable for beginners and people of all ages. Wear comfortable shoes and dress appropriately for the weather.

12:15 p.m. to 1:15 p.m. - Tree Tour of Nay Aug Park guided by Tony Santolli, City of Scranton forester. Meet at Everhart Museum steps at Nay Aug Park. FREE. Call 941-7401 for more information.

2:30 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. - Tour of the Lackawanna River guided by Burnie McGurl, executive director of the Lackawanna River Corridor Association. Meet at the Silkman House, 2006 North Main Avenue. FREE. Call 941-7401 for more information.

Saturday, April 25:
10 a.m. - Clean-up project in preparation for River Fest hosted by the Lackawanna River Corridor Association. Volunteers may bring gloves, rakes, shovels, wheelbarrows, weed whackers or any other tools, however, tools are not required and will be provided for you. Meet across the street from the Ice Box on the corner of Olive and Love streets or at Parker Street Bridge on the corner of Parker and Amelia streets. Call 347-6311 for more information.

10 a.m. - Mountain bike ride through the Nature Conservancy Preserve located on Moosic Mountain, led by Alaina Dietz and Steve Kurilla, and sponsored by Sickler's Bike and Sport in Clarks Summit. Bikers should bring their own bike, a light snack and water. All level of bikers. FREE. Directions: From I-81, take exit 187 for Carbondale/Route 6. Once on Route 6, go just over four miles. Take Exit 3 for Jessup, and travel south on Moosic Lake Road/Route 247 for about two miles. The entrance to the parking area will be on your left.
