University of Scranton Students Participate in Spring Break Service Trips

Nearly 40 University of Scranton students participated in alternative spring break service trips in March that allowed them to work with the homeless, former gang members, children with disabilities, and others in need through service agencies throughout the country. Students volunteered at Mercy Home for Boys and Girls in Chicago, Illinois; St. Michaels Association for Special Education in St. Michaels, Arizona; the McKenna Center in Washington, D.C.; WorkFest in the Appalachian region of Kentucky; Homeboy Industries in Los Angeles, California; Francis Corps in Syracuse, New York; and St. Matthew School in Phoenix, Arizona.

Scranton alumnus Tim Plamondin helped coordinate the Chicago service trip and Scranton alumna Kerry Delaney helped coordinate the Phoenix service trip.
