Matthew Meyer joined the Philosophy Department as an Assistant Professor in 2010. Prior to coming to the University of Scranton, he received a joint PhD-MA degree from Boston University in philosophy and classics. He has a BA in economics from the University of St. Thomas in Minnesota and also holds advanced degrees from Harvard University and the University of Vienna. He has a general interest in the history of philosophy and specializes in ancient Greek and nineteenth-century German philosophy. Most of his research to date has been on the thought of Friedrich Nietzsche. He is currently working on a book entitled, Reading Nietzsche Through the Ancients: An Analysis of Becoming, Perspectivism, and the Principle of Non-Contradiction.
