Major: Psychology

Class of 2025

Why did you choose Scranton?

I chose to attend Scranton for multiple reasons. When visiting the campus, I was welcomed by every student with a smile. I loved the small classes the University offers as they allow me to have a closer connection with my professors. I also appreciated the opportunities to get involved around campus, as well as the close-knit feeling of the Psychology Department.

What do you like about the psychology major?

I want to help others and leave an impact after I graduate. I love psychology as I believe no matter your major or interests, it is so important to have a background in psychology. Not only will it help you better understand yourself, but it also helps you better understand other people.

Tell us about your internship.

I am an extern at the Nathan Kline Institute for Psychiatric Research. Working alongside an amazing team of researchers, I assist in studying the behavior of rats and analyzing what neural processes underlie defensive decisions in stressful situations. This experience helped me better understand what it means to work in a lab, as well as grow my knowledge in psychology and heighten my interest in neuroscience.

What are your extracurricular activities?

I am a member of the Psychology Club, and I am working to rebuild the Association for Psychological Science Student Caucus with a few other students. I am a certified spin instructor to lead my own classes on campus. Lastly, I am a part of the University Honors Program, which has been a rewarding opportunity.
