President's Business Council

The President’s Business Council (PBC) was formed by the University and a prominent group of alumni and friends with the purpose of advancing the mission of the University. The PBC fulfills the interests of the University and of these alumni and friends in the business community to form an organized, national affiliation that strengthens the Scranton network in the business sectors. Membership on the PBC is open to alumni and friends who can help in accomplishing its objectives.

The objectives of the PBC are:

  • to provide networking opportunities for alumni and friends
  • to provide mentoring, internship, educational and career opportunities for current students
  • to provide a fundraising source for the Presidential Scholarship Endowment Fund.
At the PBC’s Annual Award Dinner, an honoree is presented with the University’s President’s Medal, which recognizes individuals who have achieved excellence in their fields and who have demonstrated extraordinary compassion for others. Proceeds from the dinner go directly to the Presidential Scholarship Endowment Fund, which supports merit-based, full-tuition scholarships for talented students who will become leaders of vision and integrity.

In conjunction with the University’s Kania School of Management, the PBC supports a student mentoring program for business students in their junior and senior years. Interested students are matched with PBC members who serve as the student’s mentor for two years.

Through regional receptions held in Boston, New York, Philadelphia, Scranton and Washington, DC, the PBC promotes local networking among alumni and friends of the University. These receptions also introduce current students to the career opportunities in these regions.
