Four Global Tastes of Scranton events held since spring 2016 celebrating and honoring the food, culture and stories of local Syrian, Congolese, and Bhutanese-Nepali refugees have raised $9,000 in support of local resettlement and related refugee support. See information on previous events below.

Event Partners: Catholic Social Services of the Diocese of Scranton, The Greenhouse Project, Lackawanna College, Lackawanna County Department of Arts and Culture, Momo King, Namaste Grocery and Nepali Kitchen, Scranton Cultural Center, Terra Preta Prime, and The University of Scranton (Office of Community and Government Relations and Refugee Solidarity Initiative).

Project Purpose

The purpose of the project is to increase cultural awareness and collaboration and to empower and support refugees and refugee-owned businesses in the Scranton area. Refugees who participate in this project are invited to join existing small business development activities through the University of Scranton Small Business Development Center & Women's Entrepreneuship Center and the Scranton Area Community Foundation.
