Student in Dual M.D./Ph.D. Program

Exercise Science graduate Stephen Gadomski has been named a Gates Cambridge Scholar and will begin studies at the University of Cambridge in Great Britain.

Currently a M.D./Ph.D. student at The Medical University of South Carolina, he plans to study skeletal stem cells to improve stem cell therapies for skeletal disease. 

The Gates Cambridge Scholarship program was created in 2000 through funding from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Scholars are selected for their outstanding intellectual ability, leadership potential, commitment to improving the lives of others, and the fit between the applicant's qualifications and Cambridge's postgraduate programs.

During his time at Scranton, Stephen worked with Associate Professor Paul Cutrufello, Ph.D., through the Faculty-Student Research Program. They were awarded the President's Fellowship for Summer Research. Stephen presented their research at a conference of the American College of Sports Medicine.
